You normally would be gathering in a building, singing songs of triumph, and listening to me share a message of Jesus’ triumphant entry into the ancient city of Jerusalem.  But that is not the new normal.

You instead are reading this document either on the website or via snail mail.

It struck me as I was reading and writing in preparation to share this document that Jesus created a new normal in His day.  The people were wanting a warrior king to set them free.  Instead, the person of Jesus rode in on an ass / donkey not to fanfare reserved for royalty but with simplicity.

My challenge to you during this Easter Season is to regain the sense of awe and reverence of those who welcomed Jesus.  Shout HOSANNA. Bow down and worship the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and the Prince of Peace.

The simplicity is that you read the text and allow it to speak to you.  Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate those words in your mind and heart.  Record those words in a journal.

When this season of “stay at home” has concluded, look back and read those journal words.

COVID-19 will forever change the way we view the world.  Do not let it change your view of the King of Kings.

LORD – grant us peace in this season of COVID-19.  Let us embody the new commandment recorded in John’s gospel.  Allow the world to know we are followers of Jesus by the way we love one another and react in this time of anxiety.  You are the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and Prince of Peace.  AMEN

As our community of faith continues to weather this health crisis, we trust that we will survive it.  Part of this survival will be continuing to receive tithes and offerings.  Your generous giving allows us to continue to pay for the gas, electric, water, insurance, Conference Tithe, and pastoral ministry.  The co-treasurers have reached out to the Free Methodist Foundation to release over $5,000 we had invested with them.  Those dollars will be arriving in the coming days to help carry us into April.  Those reserve dollars were being held for a time such as this. Once those funds arrive, there are no other financial reserves for the church to use.
