Hebrews 11:1–3 (The Message)
1The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.
2The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.
3By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s word, what we see created by what we don’t see.
We are living in unprecedented times. This will be our new normal for the foreseeable future. Having said that…….
The writer of Hebrews is abundantly clear in the text – we are to TRUST in God. Trust is not a foundational issue in many peoples lives today. Look at the run on toilet paper – of all things. Shelves are empty and people are hoarding food and staples – more than they need. The food and staple supply chain is solid and working!
What does it mean to trust in God for us as believers. Take time to scan your Bible. Where God is moving He has always asked humanity (His creation to partner with Him) to TRUST. Manna in the desert. People living in exile. And, the life and person of Jesus.
What happened when people did not trust. Manna spoiled. Exile was challenging.
We are not to be a un-trusting people. Instead we know that our God cares for us. If He cares about the flowers of the ground and birds in the air, He cares for us.
Do not be anxious and un-trusting. Instead trust that the Lord will get us through.
Lord, you are our creator and the creator of the world. I love you and trust you for all things – food, finances, shelter. I pray that I stay focused on you during this time. Do not let the fear that is consuming so many consume me. I trust you!
I also pray…………….
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN
